Selecting candles, based on their scent or fragrance, can be a great way to improve your mood, reduce anxiety, and even combat fatigue or loneliness.
A candle flame may be small, but you should treat it as you would any other flame – with care. Candles turn to liquid in order to release their fragrance and this wax carries heat and that can cause another surface, such as a wood table, to catch fire. Over half of candle fires start because the candle is too close to combustible materials.
There are 6 simple steps to follow to use candles safely according to the National Candle Association.
- Don't walk away
- Secure the area
- Keep from kids and pets
- Avoid Drafts & Vents
- Don't Touch or Move
- Keep candles 3" Apart
