How safe is your candle?

Selecting candles, based on their scent or fragrance, can be a great way to improve your mood, reduce anxiety, and even combat fatigue or loneliness.

A candle flame may be small, but you should treat it as you would any other flame – with care. Candles turn to liquid in order to release their fragrance and this wax carries heat and that can cause another surface, such as a wood table, to catch fire. Over half of candle fires start because the candle is too close to combustible materials.

There are 6 simple steps to follow to use candles safely according to the National Candle Association.

  1. Don't walk away
  2. Secure the area
  3. Keep from kids and pets
  4. Avoid Drafts & Vents
  5. Don't Touch or Move
  6. Keep candles 3" Apart

FIRE DAMAGE GOES BEYOND BURNING ITEMS

Here at SERVPRO of North Clay County / Oakleaf / North Middleburg we are prepared to assist you and get your home or business quickly back to a liveable/workable state.   We realize a smoke or fire damage is not easy to deal with and we are here to help with that.

  • Ash and smoke can continue to cause damage and corrosion to materials left behind.
  • Odors from smoke will stay in a room or a home long after the fire and continue to cause problems if they are not removed.
  • In a few minutes, walls and other surfaces can become discolored.
  • In a few hours, finishes on kitchen appliances turn yellow.
  • Smoke causes etching in glass after just a short time, and smoke will tarnish metal quickly.

So, during the initial fire or smoke loss protect yourself and anyone else along with pets from getting hurt or smoke inhalation.  SERVPRO can clean up the mess, but we cannot save your life.

How we clean contents from a fire damage loss

The ultrasonic machine creates microscopic bubbles with sound waves moving through the water.   The process is cavitation (caused by the spinning motion of the bubbles). The microscopic size of the bubbles makes them more efficient during the cleaning process. Bubbles that are created through cavitation are empty space, there’s nothing that holds them open. As a result, the bubbles will collapse, or implode. This will happen a million times per second. The constant implosion produces vacuum energy, in the form of heat and pressure. The combination of heat and pressure which gives Ultrasonic its cleaning capability and power. When cavitation happens next to a dirty object, the vacuum action produced by millions of bubbles constantly imploding it creates a tiny pressure wave that reaches deep into every nook and cranny. This pressure wave dislodges and breaks up any dirt and other contaminants.
